The Brief
Padel Scotland are developing padel venues in the UK and needed an experienced sports contractor to deliver a high quality venue. Padel is a fast growing sport in Europe and often sits alongside tennis and squash venues. DOE Sport North were known to Padel Scotland through their extensive specialist tennis experience and their previous involvement in the expansion of padel at Edinburgh Sports Club.
Build up and delivery
DOE Sport North worked in partnership with specialist padel contractor, Padel Tech UK, to construct two bespoke padel courts adjacent to Thistle Tennis Club in Edinburgh. DOE took responsibility for site works, groundworks and servicing to provide a finished base for the erection of the glass and steel structure. This included construction of a temporary access and reinstatement on completion.
The site continued to operate as a multi sport venue throughout the construction period and DOE coordinated all site works with existing users to maintain safe access.

The Results
Thistle Padel Club has now operated for a year and the feedback from the client and players has been excellent. The courts receive regular maintenance to ensure that they perform well all year round. DOE are able to offer a specialist padel service throughout the UK and can offer budget costs and specification advice to any venue considering adding this exciting sport.
