Richard, brother of Tim and no mean player himself, made a surprise visit to the Prestwick Tennis Centre on 13 May to try out the new GRAND PRIX CONFORT indoor courts installed by Doe.
Richard Henman runs the prestigious Wilcox/Henman Tennis Camps for developing young players in the Oxford area and, having heard about Doe's most recent indoor installation, wanted to assess the new CONFORT courts for himself.
After an hour's hard play against Simon Klugman, one of the centre's coaches, Richard said
"It was great to have the chance to play on Doe's latest tennis surface - one which I'm sure will become very popular across the country. I thought CONFORT was a lovely surface to rally on, a good pace for all types of players with an excellent height on bounce for both juniors and club standard players"
Les Maclean, Director of Doe Sport (North) Limited, explained that "CONFORT" is French for "comfort" – the outstanding feature of this surface – designed to develop an 'all court' game whilst protecting players joints during intensive matches and coaching sessions. It has been installed at leading coaching centres in Europe over the last 4 years and Prestwick is the first centre in the UK to benefit from this exciting development in surface technology – others are due to follow their lead later this year.
